Mr. Dennis Feord, age 93, went home to be with his wife, Rose Herbert Feord and the Lord, Monday October 29, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Feord was born in London, England, a son of the late Edward and Catherine Magner Feord. Dennis left school at the age of 14 and began his work career with the Hendon District Council as an air raid warden and member of the Home Guard. At the age of 17 in 1942 he enlisted in the army. As a member of the 12th Battalion of the Kings Royal Rifle Corps, he took part in the Normandy invasion and the liberation of France during World War II. On September 25, 1944 he, as part Operation Market Garden, was wounded by shrapnel. After his recuperation he received a Field Commission with the Royal Indian Army Service Corps where he served until 1947 when India was granted independence. Dennis immigrated to the United States in 1961, later retiring from the General Motors Corp and various other automobile sales manager positions. He was a life member of VFW Post 10804 and American Legion Post 186 both in Little River, SC. He is survived by his daughters Catherine Rebecca Groelinger of Conway, and Elizabeth Mary Mulligan of Myrtle Beach. Additionally he is survived by five grand children and four great grandchildren. Funeral and Cremation arrangements are through Grand Strand Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach. Interment will occur at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC. A memorial service at the Little River VFW Post will be scheduled at a later date. The family would request any memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project
