Celia was the daughter of John Cain and Oney (Gentry) Cain. She was named after her paternal grandmother who was Celia (Steelman) Cain.
Celia married Washington Philemon Conner on February 28, 1828, in Kentucky. They moved to Howard County, Missouri, with her parents, and there most or all of their 6 known children were born. Celia's mother died in this location in 1823, then her father moved north to Adair County, Missouri. Celia and Washington Conner followed sometime in the 1830s and lived about 7 miles northwest of Kirksville, Missouri. There, Washington ran a grist mill, a saw mill, and a general store. He also established a tan yard. Their children were:
Levi Lancaster Conner 1829-1854
John Philemon Conner 1830-1845
Winnifred Margaret Conner 1832-1868
David Lewis Conner 1834-1910
James Fredrick Conner 1837-1893
William Thompson Conner 1839-1893
After Celia died, her husband remarried widow Martha Wells (Jones) Kimbrough who had 3 children, and together they had 7 children. Martha's daughter Ann Elizabeth Kimbrough married Washington's son David Lewis Conner.

"Celia Cain b. in Madison Co. Ky. August 27, 1808. Moved from Howard County to Adair County where she died Aug 26, 1841 & was buried in the old Collett cemetery west of Kirksville. About 60 years after her death, a monument was erected over her grave by her son, David Lewis Conner, and the children of another son James Frederick Conner, bearing the inscription "Celia Cain, wife of Washington Conner, born May 1, 1810, died Aug 26, 1841." (We cannot account for this discrepancy in the date of birth of Celia Cain.)"
