Jessie Cartwright Frye Shugart, 94, a lifelong resident of Bradley County passed away Friday, December 10, 2010. She was of the Methodist Faith.
Ms. Jessie taught school for 35 years and was highly respected by her peers and students- a "school teacher's teacher". She loved all of her students. She was a hard worker on her farm and very proud of the cattle she raised.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Vesta Cartwright; first husband, Julian Frye; second husband, Allan A. Shugart; son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Frye and Shelby Frye; brother, William Cartwright; sister, Elizabeth Cartwright.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Wyatt and her husband George Wyatt; stepchildren: Jane and Jim Moody, Cooksey and Martha Shugart, Peggy Lazenby, Frederick Shugart; several step grandchildren and step great-grand children; many special cousins, nieces and nephews; all of her Blythe Avenue School and Allen School students and special family friend, Mike Burrell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Reverend Eugene Henley officiating. Interment will follow in the Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
