He was the son of James and Josephine (Cambron) Pickett and married Eunice Syler - 30 Dec 1909 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. He was a farmer and blacksmith of Lexie Cross Roads in Franklin County. His obituary follows:

Illness Is Fatal To Ira C. Pickett --

Ira C. Pickett, 73, of the Lexie Crossroads community, died Wednesday at the Sewanee hospital after an illness of one month. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 o'clock at the Oak Grove Baptist Church when services will be conducted by the Rev. Jerry McGehee. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Syler Pickett; nine sons, Carl, Jack, J. D., Fred, I. C. Jr., Billy, Guy, Bob, all of the Lexie Crossroads community, and Thomas, of Chattanooga; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Goodman of Lexie Crossroads, Mrs. Grady Limbaugh, Falls Mill, Mrs. John Jarrett, Chattanooga, and Mrs. Willie Pitts of Washington, D. C.; and 23 grandchildren.

Ira Clay Pickett was my Step-Grandfather.He and his wife Eunice had 14 children.One died in infancy,Guy's Twin Robert.Their Children:
Carl; Ester;Mildred,Zack,Neva,Nell,J.D,Fred,I.C,(Ira Jr.)Tom,Guy,Bill and Bobby Dean.
Grandpa was a fisty little Irishman who had a heart of
" Gold " He was always helping others,especially his family.
I remember his icecream & fresh honey from his own hives.He would always remind Granny to give us the goodies if she forgot.A super man of very religious beliefs...and ways!!
