Frances Agan, age 86, of Salem passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 5:44 p.m. at her home. Mrs. Agan was born December 29, 1923 in Tusa Sicily, Italy, the daughter of Domenic and Anna Marie Sammataro DiPollina. She immigrated to the United States in 1924 through Ellis Island. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Jospeh Lawrence School of Nursing in New London, Connecticut, and a retired registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Agan; her parents, and a sister, Julie Arms. She is survived by three daughters, Margaret A. "Peg" Boulet and Lynda L. Duggins, both of Salem, and Mary E. Dodge of Greenville; two sisters, Jody Rojeski of Mobile, Alabama and Mary A. Benson of Groton, Connecticut; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 3-8 p.m. and Tuesday 8-10:30 a.m. at Weathers Funeral Home.
