Mrs. Mattie Collins, wife of J. N. Collins, who lives on Chadwick's ranch seven miles northeast of town, died on Thursday, October 1, after an illness of two weeks from Bright's disease with complications. Short services were held at the home Friday morning by Rev. Yost after which the body was taken to North Bend, Neb for burial.
Mattie McDonald was born in 1875 at North Bend, where she resided with her parents until September 2, 1891, when she married Mr. Collins at Lyons, N. Y. With her husband she returned soon afterward to North Bend, where they made their home until March 1, 1902 when they came to Howard County.
Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Collins, both of whom survive the mother - a girl aged 11 years and a boy aged 9.
