ABEL, SR., CHARLES W., 79 - of Egg Harbor Township, died Sunday in the Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point. He served during World War II in the Maine Corps in the Pacific conflict. He was born in Bridgeport, PA and grew up in Pitman. he later resided in Williamstown for 39 years and Egg Harbor township for the past 10 years.
Charles was a Pioneer in the Real Estate profession in the Williamstown area . He owned and operated Abel Realtors in Williamstown for many years. He had also worked as a Military Policeman at Fort Dix. He was Past President and member of the Williamstown Rotary Club; a member of the Masonic Lodge in Audubon; a Past Director of the Better Business Bureau, Camden Co area; member of both the VFW and American Legion and had sat on the Monroe Twp Planning Board. He was a avid Civil War Enthusiast.
He was the beloved husband of Peggy McParland-Abel; devoted father of Charles W Abel Jr. and wife Diana and Peggy Sabo and her husband Andrew both of Williamstown; loving grandfather of Brittany, Brett, Andy, Erika and Jennifer; great grandfather to Alexis and Jenna.
Friends may call at Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc., 1650 New Road, Northfield. Funeral service will be held Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be Thursday in Williamstown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Williamstown.
