Ethel Mae Sharkey, 99, a resident of the Rensselaer Care Center, and past resident of Remington, died at 11:45 p.m. April 11 at RCC. She had been a resident there for 4 1/2 years.
She was born in Milan, Ind. on Oct. 11, 1890.
In 1909 she married Clarence Hendrickson in Osgood, Ind. and he died in 1950. On February 5, 1972 she married Lewis Sharkey and he survives.
A member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Goodland, she had worked at Sherman White and Co., for several years and also worked as a cook at the Greyhound Post House Restaurant in Kentland for several years.
She was a past resident of Morocco.
Survivors in addition to her husband include, two step-sons, Donald and Stanley Sharkey, of Aurora, Colo., one step-daughter Shirley Block of Woodland Hills, Calif., three grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and five step-greatgrandchildren.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. April 13 at the Stitz Funeral home in Remington.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 14 at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Schertz officiating.
Burial will follow in the Remington Cemetery.
