Patrick Joseph McDevitt was born March 21, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Josephine (Owens) McDevitt. He was united in marriage to Carole Ann Lofgren, February 11, 1961, at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Rockford, Ill.
Pat proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1959. "P.J." retired from Carpetland USA in 1995. Those who knew Pat know he was truly a man of faith who lived a full and purposeful life. Pat cherished his time at home with his wife and family. He was always up for a good laugh and conversation. His jovial humor, thought provokers, and childhood tales will be most remembered. Pat was a loving and giving brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Pat will also be remembered by his role and duties of Christian faith, as he attended and served daily mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Carole; and their children, two sons, Daniel J. and Raymond J. (Kelly) McDevitt, of Davenport; a daughter, Colleen M. (Drew) Davis, Coralville, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Lisa (Tom) McKarns, Ann Arbor, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Margaret Mary Frett and Therese J. Donahue, both of Clinton; two brothers, Leon McDevitt, Davenport, and Al (Madonna) McDevitt, Cleveland, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Patrick is preceded in death by his, parents, a son, Patrick M. McDevitt, and his sister, Alice Dong. Pat's character and love for his family and friends will be so missed. We pray for his peace in eternity.
