Elsie C. Romanski, 91, St Lawrence, passed away peacefully, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, in Reading Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Walter A. Ro-manski, who passed away in 1992. He was the chief photographer for the Reading Eagle for 49 years.
Born in Birdsboro, she was a daughter of the late Leroy D. and Rosa E. (Ep-penstein) Mountz.
Elsie was a 1937 graduate of Birdsboro High School. She also was a World War II civilian WOW (Women's Ordinance Worker).
She was employed by the former Pomeroy's Department Store, Reading, in customer service for 25 years, retiring in 1982.
Elsie loved gardening, music, tennis, playing cards and Scrabble and watching her beloved Bobby play basketball.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Ro-manski) Boak, wife of Dr. J. Gordon Boak, Colts Neck, N.J.; and son, Ronald B., husband of Janet D. Romanski, Lower Alsace Township.
Other survivors include her grandchildren: Marshall and Joseph Boak, Gloria L. Romanski, Terry Nowa-tarski, Bernie Nowatarski, Vinny Motta, and Janet L. Colon; 21 great-grand-children; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leroy Mountz; and sister-in-law, Jane (Johnson) Mountz, both of Birdsboro.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Romanski, who passed away in 1986; and two brothers, Warren and Charles Mountz.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. in the Henninger Funeral Home, 229 North 5th Street, Reading. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
