WILLIAM CAREY BAKER
William Carey Baker was born in Lockport, New York, June 15, 1838, and moved with his father's family to Stillman Valley, Illinois, in 1854. When the Civil War broke out he served as a Union soldier. On January 14, 1869, he was married to Annie E. White and moved at once to Chase County, Kansas, where they lived on the Sam Baker farm. A son, Albert Hamilton Baker, was born to them December 9, 1869. Mr. Baker's health being very poor, he returned with his family to Illinois, where he passed from life July 30, 1871.
