Sioux Falls - H. Clark Baird, 88, died on August 21, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor, Sioux Falls.

Clark was born January 30, 1919 at Frankfort, SD to Howard F. Baird and Ada (Wetzbarger) Baird.

Graduating from Frankfort high school, Clark attended Dakota Wesleyan University, Northern State Teachers´ College, and received his BS degree in Elementary Education from USD. He later received his Elementary Principal´s Certificate.

Clark and Mary Ellen Sletten were married April 29, 1941. They farmed near Canton, SD for 25 years, then Clark served the Beresford School System until 1969.

From 1984-1993 Clark and Mary Ellen traveled the US in the "Roving Volunteers in Christ´s Service" organization, settling in Smithville Texas until 2001 when they moved back to South Dakota. In 2003 they moved in Primrose Retirement Community, SF, where Clark lived until June 2007.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 1 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2425 S. Western Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.

Grateful for sharing Clark´s life are his wife Mary Ellen, one sister, Edna (Baird) Johnson, and his children; Rugh (Gordon) Pollard, Margaret (Marvin) Fink, David (Hattie) Baird, Donald (Trudy) Baird, Martha (Lynn) Aasheim, Mary (Allen) Mayer, Elizabeth (Keith) Kirkebak, and Dorothy (George) Bos; 25 grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.
