Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Terry Griffith of Highland Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Shirley was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Lima, Ohio, to Clarence and Eva Bice. She married Ernest James DeForest in 1952. They were married for 42 years at the time of his death in 1994.
She was a vibrant, joyful woman who cherished her family and friends. She was a member of Highland Christian Church and the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Eva Marie DeForest; and a son, Michael Lee DeForest.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Stout and husband Tom of Amarillo; two sisters, Nell Schulz of Florida and Judy Heath of Ohio; and other loving family members, Charlotte Whatley, Dara Whatley and C.J. Whatley.
The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Animal Rescue Shelter, 12500 S. Washington St. Amarillo, TX 79118.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
