From Emma Buchanan Holmes' scrapbook, held at the Cincinnati Historical Society, pg.23, a newspaper clipping dated 1908, paper unknown: MRS. BUCHANAN DEAD. Mrs. Mary P. Buchanan, widow of Alfred Buchanan, died at her home, Vernon place and Harvey Avenue, Avondale, last evening in her seventy-seventh year. Alfred Buchanan, her husband, was one of the pioneer wholesale coal merchants of this city, and in the latter years of his business life a partner of Sol. P. Kineon, the firm becoming Sol. P. Kineon & Co. after Mr. Buchanan's death. One daughter, the wife of Attorney John R. Holmes, survives. Arrangements for the funeral will be made today.
