Mr. Quartz was driving to Reno on Friday night when he lost control of his car and smashed into a guardrail 12 miles east of Reno on Route 40 near McCarren Hill. He was killed instantly. His passenger, Gayelene Ochiho, 17, was taken to Washoe Medical Center emergency room for treatment then transfered to Schurz Hospital in fair condition.

Funeral from the Methodist Church in Schurz and burial was on 9 Mar 1955. Headstone ordered by Raymond Sammaripa 11 Mar 1955.
