Carroll Jackson Knight passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010, in his home. He was born in Hicks, La. December 5, 1913. He lived in Fullerton and Fal until moving to DeQuincy in 1927. As a young man he worked following the wheat harvests from Minnesota to the Canadian border traveling in a rebuilt Model A. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 stationed in Ansley , LA. He married Catherine Olsen Knight in 1935. He was employed at Newport Industries in DeQuincy until the Co. relocated to Florida. He was employed at CITGO Petroleum until his retirement and owned and operated Knight's Saw Filing Shop. He loved working, especially with his Cub Tractors and gardening. He was a wonderful Dad and PawPaw and wanted nothing but the best for his kids and grandkids.

Survivors are his son, Robert G. Knight of DeRidder; daughter, Carolyn Gilbert of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Donna Hudson and husband Charles, Robert Knight, Jr. of DeRidder; Cathy Boyer and husband Blake, Jud Gilbert of DeQuincy; nine great-grandsons, Jared Walker, Justin Walker and wife Joanne of DeRidder; Tyrell, Ethan, Colton, Gage and Ryder Boyer, Tyler and Dalton Gilbert of DeQuincy; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Ira Broxson of DeQuincy. Edna Palermo of Santa Ana, California, Elsie Crewell of DeQuincy, Carolyn Hughes of Leesville; brothers, Everett Lee Shroll of SantaAna, California, and Alton Knight of Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; parents Edward Shroll and Zella Dyess Shroll; George Knight; sisters EttaMarie Shoemake, MarieEtta Stephens Baukman, Fern Griscom; brothers Edward Shroll, Norman Shroll, Roy Knight, son-in-law Jerry Gilbert and granddaughter-in-law, Nikki Gilbert.

His funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy with Rev. Rob Walls officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.on Wednesday at the funeral home and will resume Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
