Gilbert Anthony Acciardo Sr., 79, of Mt. Zion Road, London, Ky., died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at Marymount Medical Center in London.
Born May 24, 1927 in Queen, New York, he was the son of the late Dominico and Edith Janson Acciardo.
He was of the Catholic faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and an arson investigator for the Kentucky State Police by profession.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Jill Ann Acciardo and his sister Lucille Acciardo.
He is survived by his wife Janice Carter Acciardo, of East Bernstadt, Ky.; sons Gilbert Anthony Acciardo Jr. and wife Deborah, of East Bernstadt, Dennis Acciardo, of London, Joel Acciardo and wife Michelle, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Dom Acciardo and wife Robin, of Richmond, Ky.; daughter Terry Jane Acciardo, of London; stepsons Gary Adams and Barry Adams, of East Bernstadt; grandchildren Cristin Adams and husband Jeremy, of East Bernstadt, Grace Acciardo, of East Bernstadt, Dominic Acciardo, of Richmond, Marcie Acciardo, of Tampa, Fla., Vincent Acciardo, of Fayetteville, and Leslie Acciardo, of Fayetteville; and great-grandchild Braden Adams, of East Bernstadt.
His funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at London Funeral Home, with Denny McCowan officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in East Bernstadt.
Dennis Acciardo, Dom Acciardo, Gilbert Acciardo Jr., Gary Adams, Barry Adams, and Jeremy Adams served as pallbearers.
