Curtis was born August 9, 1918 in Boise, Idaho. His parents were Homer and Bessie Jarvis. He married Margaret Helen Mumford in Emmett, ID on July 02, 1941. They had one child, James Curtis, born March 3, 1943.
Curtis graduated from the College of Idaho with a teaching degree and later received his Masters Degree from the University of Idaho. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
After leaving the Service, he began his teaching and coaching career in Caldwell, ID, starting at the Junior High level and then moving up to be the head basketball coach at Caldwell High School for 6 years. The family then moved to Coquille, OR, where he was the head basketball coach for 6 years. In 1959, he moved the family to Roseburg, OR to become the head basketball coach there, until retiring in 1980.
After retirement, he and Margaret moved to McKenzie Bridge, OR for several years, before moving to Bend to be near their son, Jim, and his family. When Jim and his wife moved to Asotin, WA in 2008, Curt and Margaret moved to Lewiston, ID to be near them.
He loved fishing, hunting, golf, and watching his son and grandchildren participate in athletics. He found great joy in his four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Curt was great with one-liners, and particularly enjoyed funny birthday cards. His sense of humor will be missed.
Curt is survived by his son, Jim, and his wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Jeff Jarvis, Jeanne Mendazona, Melissa Goff, and Chris Jarvis; and his nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bud; and sister, Betty Davison.
