Dorothy E. Gilbert, 74, of Patterson Street, died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at her home.
Dorothy retired from Applied Laboratories and had been previously employed at Gene's Cafeteria for 24 years. She was a member of Central Heights Church of God.
Dorothy was born May 3, 1936 in Cave City, Ky., the daughter of Carvel and Christine Williams Hardy. She was married to Robert N. Duvall from 1953 to 1954. She married John C. Gilbert in Dec. 1955. He preceded her in death in 1973. She married George Merb in 1974. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was married to James Schrelick from 1989 to 1997.
Survivors include sons, Gene Duvall and Carvel (Kim) Gilbert, both of Columbus and John Gilbert Jr. of North Vernon; daughters, Rhonda (Joe) Monroe of Columbus, Melody (Allen) Hoover of Hope and Lanora (Carl) Ball of Seymour; stepsons, Roger Merb of Portsmith, Ohio, Mark Schrelick, Anthony Schrelick and Timothy Schrelick, all of Columbus; step-daughter, Carol (Roy) Conley of Kokomo, Indiana; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Hardy of Columbus and a sister, Shirley Fay Ison of Westport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, a daughter, Tammy Mings and a daughter-in-law, Athleen Gilbert.

VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
