Minnie Lee Ashcraft Phelps Ashcraft, 71 of Rowell Community died at 8:10 p. m. Tuesday night May 9, 1962 at a Rison Hospital in Rison, Arkansas.
Mrs. Ashcraft was a native of Rowell, born July 7, 1889, to the late William and Nannie Hunter Stewart Ashcraft.
She lived in Cleveland County most of her life, but when she was a child made her home in Jefferson County for a short time.
She attended schools at Rowell and the first married to Henry Phelps in Rowell, Mr. Phelps died in 1918.
Survivors include her husband W. C. Ashcraft whom she married in 1920, four sons; Royce Phelps of Rison, Hollis Phelps of Pine Bluff, Harold Ashcraft of Garden Grove, California and Charles Ashcraft of Little Rock, Arkansas, two daughters; Mrs. Dona Spakes, and Mrs. Cecile Johnston of Rowell Community, and one brother; J. B. Stewart of Herbine community, one sister; Mrs. Walter Reed of Rowell Community 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Lloyd Smith of Sheridan, Rev. Frank Glover of Rison and Rev. Howard Upson of Stuttgart held funeral Services on Thursday at 2 p. m. at Center Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial was in Rowell Cemetery by South Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were her grandson: J. R. Phelps, Jr., Ralph Phelps, Harry Phelps, Gary Phelps, Bobby Ray Phelps, Gerald Spakes, Johnny Charles Phelps, Edmond Wayne Ashcraft, Chester Lynn Ashcraft and Ronnie Ashcraft.
