Having moved back to Hemingway in 1941 she was an active member of the Methodist Church and in the Woman's Society of Christian Service until bad health caused her retirement from many of her activities.
She is survived by her husband, J. R. Newman, of Hemingway; one daughter - Mrs. Herman Sindletary (Martha) of Lake City; two brothers, K. N. Huggins and Ottis Huggins of Hemingway; five sisters - Mrs. Julian D. Brown (Eunice), Mrs William W. Gibson (Minnie), Mrs Kenneth H. Brown all of Hemingway, Mrs Boyd Miller (Bessie) of Bennettsville, Mrs. T. W. Edgeworth (Clarice) of Ashville, NC.
Because of the serious illness of her husband, funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Old Johnsonville Cemetery at four o'clock Sunday afternoon. The body will remain at the Epps Funeral Home until Sunday morning when it will be carried to the home.
