Katie Krout, daughter of William and Fanny Powell Krout was born in Indianapolis, Marion County in 1882. She with her parents moved to Fountain County where her father died in 1895. Then with her mother and family moved to Alamo where she attend the Alamo School. At the age of 14 she joined the Alamo Christian Church under the Rev Brown. In 1900 she was married to Samuel L Fruits, an Alamo boy. To this union were six children. Fanny Helen and Harry Russell preceded her in death. Samuel Fruits died in 1946. They had lived near Alamo their entire life. She was also a charter member of AOES.
