Mrs. Harold Pierce Dies In Auto Crash

Two women were killed late Thursday night in a two-car collision caused by a dead calf on the highway.
Mrs. Ruth Pierce, 50, of Remington R.R. and Mrs. Anne M. Mietzner of Gary were killed in a crash 5 miles south of Rensselaer on U.S. 231.
Mrs. Ruth Pierce's husband, Harold E. Pierce, 56, was taken to Jasper county hospital, Rensselaer, suffering from compound fractures of both arms, legs, rib fractures and numerous cuts.
Mrs. Mietzner's daughter -----. Her car crossed the highway and collided almost head on with Pierce's car.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Remington and spent her life in that community. She was graduated from Remington high school in 1927 and was married in 1929. Her husband is a farmer and the family home is three and a quarter miles northeast of Remington. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Surviving was the husband and a son, Duane of Westville, a daughter, Mrs. Max Henry of Griffith, several grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Herman Alberts of Remington and Mrs. Pearl Comer of Harlengen, Tex.
