The Rev. Dahlgren E. Casey
The Rev. Dahlgren E. Casey, 94, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Franklin United Methodist Community. He was a resident of Franklin.
He was born July 20, 1908, in Austin. His parents were Ulric and Minnie Casey. He married Ica D. (Curry) Casey on June 12, 1944. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, John T. Casey of Rensselaer and Henry D. Casey; three sisters, Mabel Christie and Margaret Chabot, both of Scott County, and Hilda Lynch of California; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Casey.
He was a graduate of Austin High School, DePauw University and Drew Theological Seminary. He also attended Indiana University Medical School.
He was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, South Conference. He served in churches in California and various areas in Indiana.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served as post chaplain at Fort Riley, Kan., during the Korean War. He continued to serve in the National Guard and retired from the military as a lieutenant colonel.
The Rev. Bill Dunfee will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. today at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center, Washington Park East. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home. Interment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
