...ELLEN McMALLY was born in Ireland May 12, 1831 and came to America when she was fourteen years of age, and was married to Bernard Coyle in 1848 (March 17) in Canandaigua, New York, and moved to Madison Wisconsin in 1852 and to Ogden, Iowa in 1869 where her husband died two years later.
...Ten children were born to this union; Patrick and Francis, who preceeded her to the better world. Mrs. C.R. Hannigan of Cathamlet, Washington; Edward of Omaha, Nebraska; James of O'Neill, Nebraska; Mrs. Lawler of Ogden; Mrs. McElroy of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Thomas and Albert of Phoenix, Arizona; and Alice of Des Moines, Iowa.
...Mrs. Coyle died April 22 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.F. Lawler. The funeral was held at the Catholic church in Ogden, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Services were conducted by Father Meyer and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery west of Boone, by the side of her husband.
...Those from a distance who were called to her bedside during her sickness and death were: Mrs. C.R. Hannigan and daughter of Cathamlet, Washington; James Coyle and daughter of O'Neill, Nebraska; Mrs. James McElroy of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Miss Alice Coyle of Des Moines, Iowa; T.C. Dunigan and Mrs. Annie Toughey of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; C.C. Barnes and daughters of Des Moines.

...On Thursday morning of last week, at the Lawler home three miles south and four miles west of Ogden occurred the death of Mrs. Ellen Coyle, age 77 years, 11 months and 20 days. The funeral was held Saturday from the Catholic church and burial in the cemetery at Boone. Mrs. Coyle was one of the pioneer residents of the county, with the family has resided most of her life in Beaver Township.
...Step-mother to: Mary J. Coyle Jennings, Charles T. Coyle, Bernard W. Coyle (ordained priest), Elizabeth Ann Coyle, Margaret A. Coyle Barnes, Ellen Sherman Coyle McMahon. Their mother, Jane Dunnigan Coyle died c.1848.
