Gordon E. England, 88, Marinette, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, 2010, at the Luther Home.

Born Jan. 26, 1922, in Peshtigo to Elmer England and Estella (Lehman) England, he resided in the Peshtigo-Marinette area all of his life and was a graduate of Peshtigo High School, Class of 1940.

He married the former Mildred Martz on Aug. 17, 1947. She preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1990.

In earlier years he had been employed as a manager at Thompson Boat Co. in Peshtigo.

He later worked for Kargard Industries and Safeguard Industries in Marinette.

He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Marinette and had served on the church council.

He also belonged to the Peshtigo River Bow Hunters and was a life member of the NRA.

Survivors include five children, Steve (Carole), Ruth Bunnow, Peter (Denise), Jim (Noni), and Karen (Randy) Johnson; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald Bunnow; and two sisters, Dorothy Behnke and Merrie Meyers.
