Surname is spelled "Gillett" (see gravestone); his daughter decided to spell it "Gillette" when she went to Hollywood and other members of the extended family decided to add an "e" to the end of "Gillett" at some point in time

Born: 1863
(There is a birth year conflict: his gravestone & 1900 US census have the year as 1864; however, his brother, Horace, also has a birth year on his gravestone of 1864 & they were not twins; as Fred was an infant on the mule train of Capt. John D. Chase, during the Mormon Trek, which left Wyoming, June 25th, 1864, Fred was most likely born in 1863. Since Find-A-Grave recommends using the dates that appear on the gravestone, I will post the 1864 in order to avoid confusion)

Wife:
Elizabeth (married 27 Apr 1905 in Salt Lake City, UT)

Occupation: timekeeper for West Mining Co.

"Fred B. Gillette, a long time and highly respected resident of this city, succumbed to an attack of pneumonia Tuesday afternoon at the Miners Hospital, after a four day's illness. Deceased was a native of New York state and was in his 65th year. He came to Utah when a small boy. He made his home in Salt Lake City until ten years ago, when he came to Park City, being in charge of the Daly-West boarding house almost continuously since that time. He was a pleasant, affable gentleman, esteemed by all who knew him, and his sudden passing on is sincerely regretted by a large circle of friends. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Playter Gillette, of Salt Lake, one daughter, Mrs. Betty Gillette Ferris, now of Chicago, and a stepson, Phillip Playter, of Salt Lake, also by two brothers, Horace Gillette, of Lei, Utah, and Granville Gillette, of Los Angeles, California; also one sister, Mrs. M. Snyder, of Los Angeles, California. Mr. Fred Gillette, of this city, is a nephew of deceased. M.M. Groo, half brother of deceased, of Alpine, Utah, also survives. Funeral services will be held at the L.D.S. Church, this city, Monday morning, Bishop Oblad, officiating. The remains will be taken to Salt Lake for interment. A special request of the family is that there be no flowers."
