Lorraine was the third or six children born to William Elmer and Dora Lavern Wood. Lorraine spent her entire childhood growing up in and around Osage and Pawnee Counties in Oklahoma. She graduated from Ralston High School in 1946 with honors. Lorraine was an avid reader with a quick smile and a story to tell.

She first married Arthur Capper Bell June 8, 1946, at nineteen years of age. To this union three sons were born: Jerry Michael, Jimmy Dale, and Larry Arthur. After the boys were born she and Arthur moved to Oklahoma City for a brief period of time. The union ended in divorce and Lorraine returned to settle in Fairfax, Oklahoma.

Thrust into the role of a single parent in the mid-1950's was no easy life and she endured many struggles and hardships but she had faith all would be well. Lorraine blessed her boys with her love, the most precious thing she could give. She never had much nor wanted much other than an occasional special flower bulb. She was an avid flower gardener and her flower beds were a vision of color and beauty each spring and summer. She was always willing to share her flowers and bulbs with neighbors and anyone who stopped to admire her flower beds in full bloom. She and her sons spent much time and labor in planting flowers and shrubs in the Pappin Cemetery where they served as caretakers.

Lorraine also loved to fish and could usually manage to catch the biggest bass in the pond which gave her quite a thrill. She and her fishing buddy, Homer Jones, kept a keen eye on the barometer and would jump up, grab their rods and reels, and in an instant be heading for the nearest pond or lake to catch whatever was 'biting' right then.

Keeping a promise from years earlier, she married Homer Robert Jones on October 14, 1972, at Fairfax.

One of the highlights of her life was to take a trip to Germany to visit her son and daughter-in-law during his tour of duty in the Army. She never forgot the beauty of the countryside and the flowers. She was able to see and experience many things she had read about in past years.

Lorraine worked as a nurses aid at the Fairfax Memorial Hospital before retirement in 1989. She passed away at the Fairfax Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. She is survived by her sister Velma London of Vinita, OK and brother Donald Wood of Bartlesville, OK and their families; also her sons, Jerry, Larry, Jimmy and daughter-in-law Mary Ellen; three grandsons, Darwin, Timothy, and Kevin; granddaughter, Autumn and one great-granddaughter, Ariella Bell and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted at the Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfax with her brother Rev. Donald Wood presiding over the services.
