She was employed for 10 years with the Davenport School District at Sudlow Junior High. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pleasure in the many friendships she established with both the drivers and fellow riders on the Davenport city buses. Survivors included her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna (Don) Ort of Ladson, S.C., and Janet (Ed) Pado of Newport, Rhode Island; her son with whom she lived, Byron Walker of Davenport; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene (Gabe) Flores of Wilmington, Mass.; as well as her loving nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Auntie Elsie." In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. (Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home assisted the family).
