William was the son of David and Janet Niven Bandeen of Scotland. He married Jane Clark in Scotland on 10 December 1853 and had daughter, Jessie (1851),and son, William (1854), born there. About 1855, the family immigrated to Ohio and settled first in Ashland County where Alex J.(1856), Andrew(1858), and James (1863) and Jane(1861) and Maggie(1868)were born. Samuel was born in Wood County. William died in Center Township of cancer at the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 24 days.
There was also an Andrew Bandeen (29)who was probably William's brother and a Joseph Christie (45) living with them.
