Betty Lee Groves was born on May 15, 1923 in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana and died, at the age of 65, on July 20, 1988, in the National Institute of Health in Washington, District of Columbia, the daughter of Charles and Lillian Sherry Groves.
She is survived by her mother, Lillian Johnson; a brother, Frank Groves and a niece and nephew.
Betty worked in the United States State Department as a Foreign Service Personnel Specialist for the Title and Rank of Officers Service Overseas. During WW II she was stationed in Hawaii and after the war she was on the American staff at the Nuremberg international trials in West Germany assisting Judge Curtis Shake.
All United States Embassies throughout the world were notified of her death, an honor usually reserved for high-ranking officials.
Funeral services were held on July 25, 1988 at the Flummerfelt-Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes, Indiana with interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Vincennes, Indiana.
