The son of John Bailey, he came with his father from England, settling in Salisbury. A weaver & husbandman, he received land in the first division in 1640 and again in 1643. He married Eleanor Emery, daughter of John Emery and removed to Newberry about 1644. They must have returned to Salisbury because he was taxed there in 1652, 1653, and 1654. He was an original "commoner" at Amesbury in 1654 and received land there in 1658, but was not found in Amesbury after that.
