Betty F. Hancher, 82, of West Lafayette, formerly of Columbus, died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette.

Mrs. Hancher was a homemaker and a former route carrier for The Republic and Star route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

Private family viewing is planned at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.

A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with the Rev. Lane Loman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charity.

Betty was born in Brown County, August 18, 1927, the daughter of Virgil C. and Margaret E. Hopkins Skaggs. She married Marshall O. Hancher November 26, 1943.

Survivors include her husband; children, Beverly (Craig) Buck of Columbus, Wayne (Kelly) Hancher of Hanover, Marsha (James) Barnett of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Cindy (Bill) Eppard of Hartford City; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
