BENJAMIN FRANKLIN REEVES
Benjamin Franklin Reeves died April 11, 1932 at the home of his daughter in Springfield, Missouri in his 76th year, after a brief illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Reeves came to Crawford County when a mere boy with his parents, George Washington and Margaret Mary Reed Reeves. Here he married Maggie Isgrigg on December 25, 1867 and they reared a family of four sons and one daughter, namely, Judge A. L, Reeves of Kansas City, Dr. George W. Reeves of Steelville, Thomas Reeves of Kansas, Charles Reeves of Chicago and Mrs. Gertrude Crow of Springfield.
The body was brought to Sullivan Monday night to the Shaffer undertaking rooms and Tuesday orange was taken to Steelville. Thence it was taken Wednesday afternoon to New Rock School House where the funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Sam L. Roper of Steelville and burial was made in the cemetery there by the side of his wife who died January 2, 1913.
Mr. Reeves had been a member of the Masonic Lodge since he was a young man and many Free Masons attended the funeral though the Mason service was not rendered.
A large number of people from the surrounding communities attended the funeral and burial, as Mr. Reeves was widely known and held in high esteem by everyone.
