C. C. Stith, a veteran of the Civil war, passed away at his home here Saturday morning at 1:30, after several months' illness from stomach trouble, aged 74 years. A short prayer service was held Sunday afternoon at the home, Rev. Newcomb officiating, and Monday afternoon the members of Wm. Rhoda G. A. R. Post of which he was a member, held ritualistic services at the home at 3 o'clock p. m. The body was taken to Howard Lake for burial, where the Free Mason Lodge of which he was a member took charge of the funeral, which was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Those accompanying the body were Mrs. C. C. Stith and grand daughter, Mrs. J. Seth, C. P. Stith and Mrs. and Mrs. J. D. Stith.

Enlisted as a Sergeant in Company D, 68th Kentucky Infantry on May 21, 1864. The 68th KY was a militia unit whose main purpose was to support Federal troops in the defense of Eastern Kentucky. Mustered out on June 22, 1864.
