ASHTABULA — Mary Louise Davey, age 80, formerly of Union Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Saybrook Landing.

She was born May 25, 1930, in Wheeling, W.Va., the daughter of Russell and Elva (Emerson) Shook and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1955.

Mary attended Collinwood High School in Cleveland and prior to her retirement, she worked for Community Action with the weatherization program. She previously served as the original manager for Sveden House Restaurant which later became Duff's Smorgasbord.

A member of Mother of Sorrows Church, she enjoyed plants, crocheting, the Cleveland Browns and all music. She dearly loved her cat and constant companion, "Speedy."

Her survivors include six children, Patricia (Jack) Loless of Columbus and Elizabeth (Michael) Franklin, Catherine (Roy) Elliott, Ellen Davey-Sweeney, Martha (fiance' Barry Harper) Miller and Bernard (Kathleen) Davey Jr., all of Ashtabula; 13 grandchildren, Kermit Jr. (Jamie), Kevin (Karen) and Kristopher (Ta-Mara) Butcher, John and Andrew (Molly) Mentges, Suzanne Hanna and Gregory (Lindsay) Zannelli Jr., Mary and Ian Elliott, Michael Davey and Brandon Sweeney, Jennifer Miller and Wendy (Jay) Tudela; nine great-grandchildren, Brook-Lyn Maureen, Krystal, and Kean Butcher, Jacob, Zachary and Daniel Obi Zannelli, and Devin, Joey and Matthew Tudela; and two brothers, John (Mary Lou) Shook of Kissimmee, Fla. and Donald (Betty) Shook of Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bernard "Barney" Davey in 2007; two daughters, Maureen Davey Butcher in 1997 and Mary Eileen Davey in 1959; one grandson, John Russell Miller; one sister, Ella Mae Shook; one brother, Ronald Lee Shook; one son-in-law, George Sweeney; and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 23rd, at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W. 6th St., Ashtabula, with Fr. John MulQueen presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22nd, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.

Contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
