He was employed as a logistics specialist for the Dept. of Defense in Ft. Monmouth, N.J., and Philadelphia, serving 36 years, retiring in 1981. While working, he spent time as a civilian in Vietnam and Korea. He served in Newfoundland with the Army during World War II. He was a member of Plymouth Meeting Evangelical Church. He graduated from St. Mary's H.S., Reading, and was a founding member of Promised Land Protestant Community Church, serving as its board vice president. He was an avid sports fan, who loved traveling and spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by his son, Timothy J., husband of Barbara Mueller Slegel, Staatsburg, N.Y.; two grandsons, Craig M. and Dalton M.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his stepmother, Anna (Ramanuskas) Slegowski; brothers and sisters: Anthony, Theodore, John, Thomas, Stanley, Mary and Sophia; and stepbrother and stepsisters: Walter, Dorothy and Josephine.
Funeral services in Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1 E. Lancaster Ave., Shillington, will be on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Glenn A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Wyomissing Cemetery, Gouglersville. Viewing will be held Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
