Hugh Adam was born in Rockbridge Co., Virginia in about 1793 (age 64) to parents Jno and Jane Adams. On 7 Sep 1857, he died in Rockbridge Co., Virginia. Per the Rockbridge Co., Virginia Death Register, line 15, Film # 004225407 on Familysearch, 192/635 (very light copy).

It says he was the son of John Adams and Jane Hutchinson. Both sons, Capt. James and Capt. Hugh served in the War of 1812. Hugh died a bachelor, born in 1793. His parents and some siblings and family are also buried at this cemetery. He was a large farmer and "bequeathed his entire fortune to his slaves, who by his direction were freed and transported to Liberia at his death." (Wow!)
