David Popp, 87, of Nekoosa, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

David was born on July 19, 1916, in Iowa, to John and Katherine (Fitzel) Popp.

He married Velletah Wallace on Aug. 12, 1957, in Waukau. She preceded him in death in 2003.

David retired as a head chipper from Nekoosa Edwards Paper Co. in 1979.

David enjoyed playing canasta, keeping his house and car spotless and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughter; a daughter-in-law; his brother, Edward Popp of Mason City, Iowa; his grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant daughter, Sandy Popp; son, James Lovelace; son, Terry Popp; six brothers; and six sisters.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2004, at Roseberry's Funeral Home & Crematory in Friendship. The Rev. Harley Hansel officiated. Burial was in Mount Repose Cemetery, Friendship.
