Passed away peacefully on the morning of December 20, 2010. Born on November 17, 1916, in Port Huron, Michigan, she was the daughter of Theodore Hamilton and Louise Petit Hamilton.
She majored in mathematics at the University of Michigan, where she joined Gamma Phi Beta sorority, of which she remained an active member for the rest of her life.
She was initiated into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated in 1938. She taught mathematics in the Port Huron public schools and on March 11, 1943, married Frank Hallgren Mason.
An active member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, she was an avid bridge player and an enthusiastic member of the Tuesday Club. Charlotte and Jim Portz were her dear friends.
Charlotte Mason is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Frank Mason; son, Thomas A. Mason; daughter-in-law, Christine Guyonneau; granddaughter, Charlotte G. Mason; son, Mark P. Mason; daughter-in-law, Bonnie McPhail Mason; step-granddaughter, Kristen (David) Dunn; step-greatgrandson, Clayton York Dunn; and step-grandson, Donald Weber.
The family thanks Allegiance Hospice for their work with Charlotte.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, 309 South Jackson Street, Jackson, MI 49201-2214
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Reverend Dr. Larry Walters officiating.
The family will greet friends at Wetherby Funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
