Ray was born on Dec. 28, 1929, on the family farm in rural Madison County, the son of Louis and Clara (Ludden) Borer.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Donna; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Chris Borer of Grand Island, Mick and Jude Borer of Fullerton; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Shane Smith of Grand Island and Jodi and Damon Obermiller of Cairo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norbert and Marilyn Borer of Norfolk, Vernon and Ellie Borer of Lincoln, Bill and Martie Borer of Norfolk, and Jim Borer of Albion; sisters and brother-in-law, Marjorie Whitten of Albion and Arlene and Lavern Nissen of Petersburg; mother-in-law, Veda Wolf of Wood River; grandchildren, Andrea, Jenna, Travis, Devin, Ryan and his fiance Arrica, Grant and McKayla; and a host of friends and relatives.
Ray was welcomed into heaven by his parents; sisters, Cordelia and Mary; and father-in-law, Harold Wolf.
Ray was raised and received his education near Madison.
He entered the United States Marines on Sept. 27, 1951, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 26, 1953.
Ray was united in marriage to Donna Lea Wolf on Oct. 25, 1953.
He was employed as an office equipment technician since 1953.
Ray was a member of the Platt Duestche.
Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, and tinkering at home and in his "Mini Menards" at Sherman Lake. Ray was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Husker football. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
