Services will be conducted by the Rev. L. E. Traxler at Southside with burial to follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson, under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Gordy was struck during a fast-moving thunderstorm Thursday only seconds after he had ordered his crew of workmen off the rooftop where they were working. He was pronounced dead on arrival at E. A. Conway Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Kathryn Gordy of Monroe; a son, Timmy Gordy, of Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. William Halley of Oak Grove; a sister, Mrs. Iris Pentecost of Grayson; and four brothers, Lamar Gordy, Arthur B. Gordy, Wilson Gordy and Otis Gordy, all of Grayson, and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carl Turner, James Leonard, A. J. Vallery, George Douglas, L. T. Neilson, and Joe Lacord.
The remains will be carried to Southside Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
