He was born on July 28, 1936 in Widnoon, son of the late Charles Albert and Sarah Elizabeth Anthony Nelson.
Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army 68 Armor Infantry Division (1960-1962).
In 1956, Charles graduated Red Brick Valley High School and was formerly employed at Culligan Water & Condition for 32 years until retirement. After retirement he was a security guard for Sylvania in Warren.
He attended the First Baptist Church of North East.
Charles enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with family.
Survivors include a son-inlaw, Rick Johnson of Warren; brother, Donald Nelson and wife Janice of Ohio; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Nelson and husband Gary of Martinsburg; a niece and three nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Ann Yeater in 2000 and by his second wife Beverly Nelson in July, 24, 2010 and a daughter, Sandra Nelson Johnson.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home 65 South Lake Street North East on Monday 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with full military honors. The Rev. Robert Klecan will officiate.
Interment will be in the Warren Memorial Park.
