Barbara A. Bell, 60, of Hawpatch Drive went to be with the Lord at 3:35 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Barbara was a homemaker, a member of East Columbus Christian Church and attended Garden City Church of Christ. She was a former dog groomer and child care provider out of her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Ron Voss and Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Garden City Church of Christ or the Barbara A. Bell memorial fund through the funeral home.

Barbara was born in Oneida, Kentucky, September 5, 1949, the daughter of Ralph Cheek and Martha Velma Barnard. She married Richard A. Bell September 21, 1968.

Survivors include her father, Ralph Check of Canada; her husband and children, Richard Alex Bell, Michelle A. (Chuck) Bryant, Heather A. Bell, Chris A. Bell and David A. Bell, all of Columbus; a brother, David (Robin) Barnard of Florida; a sister, Linda Wright, of Connersville; grandchildren, Caleb and Haley Bryant, Bryce, Hannah and Noah Christian and Alyssa Bell; and her stepfather, Joe Smith of Edmonton, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Velma Smith; a son, Shane Bell; and two grandchildren, Levi Bryant and Zachary Bell.

Funeral service for Barbara A. Bell, 60, of Hawpatch Drive, was conducted Thursday at Barkes, Weaver and Glick Funeral Home. Ron Voss and Virgil Clotfelter officiated, with special remarks from Michelle Bryant.

Burial was at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alex and Chris Bell, Chuck and Caleb Bryant, David Barnard and Bryce Christian. Honorary pallbearers were Noah Christian and Heath and Dustin Barnard.

Mrs. Bell died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
