Hannah Willhelmina Vogelsang emigrated from Germany around 1862. She was the first in her family to move to the new land. The voyage took 7 weeks to land in New Orleans. From there she traveled up the Mississippi River to St. Louis, Missouri, and then by wagon to Manhattan, Kansas.

Hannah & Henry had six children: Henry, Hannah, Frederick, Herman, Charles and Herman [2nd].
