Cleo Augustus Blackburn, 47 of 2813 Wilson Street, retired member of the Columbia Fire Department, died yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Columbia Hospital after an illness of several months. Mr. Blackburn had been a resident of Columbia 35 years and was a member of the Fire Department for 21 years.

Surviving are his wife and one son; one sister, Mrs. Beulah May Roof of Lexington; one brother, George H. Blackburn of Columbia; one uncle, Albert Blackburn, Webster Grove, Mo.; two aunts, Mrs. Hallie Gray of Kinmundy, Ill., and Mrs. Minnie Wesley of Chicago.

Funeral services will be conducted from Dunbar Funeral Home at 5 o'clock this afternoon. Interment will follow in Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lexington County. The Rev. Oscar W. Lever will conduct the services.

Pallbearers will be: Active, V. O. Maxwell, A. E. Marks, J. D. Hayden, R. E. Wheeler, M. S. Moore; Honorary, Tom Corley, John W. Crews, C. T. Graydon, T. Alex Heise,
W. W. Long, J. A. Broome, Johnny Starnes, George Ryan and A. McC. Marsh.

Throughtout his career as a fireman Mr. Blackburn displayed courage and loyalty. His services to the community were of the highest type. In his death the department has lost one of the most valued former members.
