Albert E. Flowers 73, a prominent farmer and citizen of Hemingway died Wednesday night after a lingering illness. Mr Flowers was the son of William David and Laura Stone Flowers. He married Olivia Huggins in 1893. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Hemingway Methodist Church . Internment followed in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery. Mr Flowers was a faithful and active member of the Hemingway Methodist Church. For more than 30 years he served as a steward and was a member of the choir. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. E. A. Wills, assisted by the Rev. J. E. Clark of Florence and the Rev. K. S. Davis of Johnsonville. He is survived by his wife, one son, Thurman W. Flowers,five daughters, Mrs Robert Stone, Mrs Clarence Alsbrook, Mrs. J.H. Carter, Mrs. Edgar Grimes and Mrs. B. Scott. Mr Flowers spent his entire life in this section where he was a large planter and promoter of all church and civic activities. Serving as pallbearers were his nephews, W. L. Flowers, Jim Cox, Alvin Ginn, DeLeon Poston, Dr. Will Poston, W. J. Chandler, O. G. Huggins and F. C. Davis.. His Honorary Escort included Dr. H.L. Baker, G P. Taylor, A.R. Eaddy,G.C.
