Ila Mae DePauw, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with Mr. Glen Walton officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Another angel left this world for her journey into heaven, our sweet, precious mother, Ila DePauw, on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. She was born Aug. 28, 1924, on a farm in Quail to Toy and Lois Robinson. She married Bill DePauw on Sept. 16, 1942. He preceded her in death June 18, 1988.

She worked hard all her life on the farm, then at JC Penney for more than 40 years. She loved being around others and never met a stranger. Ila always thought of others before herself.

She loved to feed the birds and other critters that came into her yard. Ila loved flowers and working in the yard. She was the neighborhood watchdog and was like family to all her neighbors and friends. She was a beautiful person inside and out, with her beautiful blue eyes and red hair.

Mother was a wonderful cook, and we will sure miss her cornbread dressing this year. She was a longtime member of Church of Christ.

As her granddaughter Anessa says, “God will have his hands full with this one. Never still a minute. She will bring laughter and love to all.” We love you Mema to the moon and back. Rest in peace sweet mama till we see you again.

She was preceded in death by our daddy, Bill DePauw; her parents, Toy and Lois Robinson; two brothers, Clifton and Jerry Don Robinson; and a sister, Diann Culver.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon McLaughlin of Lubbock; two sons, Dewain DePauw and wife Donna of Carson City, Nev., and Jerry DePauw of the home, where he lived with his mother all his life; three brothers, Wayne Robinson of Amarillo, J.W. Robinson of San Antonio and Bob Robinson of North Richland Hills; a sister, Kay Robinson of Salinas, Calif.; she adored her three grandchildren and was Mema to Chad McLaughlin of Galveston, John DePauw of Vero Beach, Fla., and Anessa Austin of Wolfforth; her six great-grandbabies, who brought her such joy, Caleb, Ella, Rowan, Gianni, Elektra and Nika; and her special daughter, Dutch, who loved her so.

The family would like to thank all her beloved neighbors for their kindness and the staff of Southwest
Hospice for caring for a one-of-a-kind sweet mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be to Quail Cemetery, P.O. Box 98, Quail, TX 79251, Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Kilgore Drive, Amarillo TX, 79106; or High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79118.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
