Hello, I just wanted to give you more information for Dixon Richard Gilbert (he's my paternal 3rd great-grandfather). His mother was Margaret Sumner (Hall) Gilbert (1820-1860). Dixon(Dickson) was first married to Eliza (Abell) Gilbert on 3 Jul 1870, in Cass County, Missouri. They had one child together, John William Gilbert (1871-1946)in Missouri. They came to Calif. about 1876/1877. Dixon had his wife, Eliza, committed to the Stockton Insane Asylum on 27 May 1878, and she died there on 29 Jul 1899. Dixon claimed he was a widower, and preceeded to marry Della Louise Null. They had eight children by 1902, including a set of triplets, Roy, Ruth, and Ray Gilbert (born 19 Jun 1893, all three died 12 Oct 1893). Dixon and Della's other children were Gladys Margaret Gilbert (1892-1953); Imogene Gilbert (1893-1931); the triplets; Mabel Jane Gilbert (1894-?); Alda Joyce Gilbert (1900-1977); Irene LaVerne Gilbert (1902-1954). Dixon and his father were members of The Odd Fellows Society.
