The Salt Lake City Daily Tribune, June 18 1892:

Mrs. Pauline Frowiss was burned to death near Los Angeles a few days ago. It is presumed that in her hurry to have a fire well started, she poured coal oil upon the wood with the above result. She was preparing dinner when the accident happened.

CASES FOR THE CORONER

A Horrible Death

At a late hour Messrs. Peck, Sharp & Nietzke, the Main street undertakers, were notified that Mrs. Pauline H. Frowiss died from burns at the Eight-mile House, at the Cahuenga Pass. Word was sent to the Coroner at once, and he authorized the undertakers to bring the body to this city.

They returned at 12:30 this morning and placed the body in their parlors, where an inquest will be held today. It seems that the lady was getting lunch on a stove that stood in the yard, last Monday at noon, and in some way her clothing caught fire. Her cry attracted the attention of her husband who was in the house and he rushed to her side. After some time he managed to put the fire out, but not until her body was frightfully burned. Dr. Westlake was sent for as soon as possible and every effort was made to save her life, but she died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She was 38 years of age and the mother of seven children.

Her husband has been with Wagner, the jeweler, a number of years, and they lived on Pico street. A few weeks ago they rented the Eight-mile House, and only moved out there last Sunday, but the family intended to remain there only while their town house was being cleaned.
